We here at Forest Edge Home Improvements are incredibly proud to share that Ultraframe have done a case study on one of the beautiful installations that we have done for one of our lovely clients.
The Paul family live in a beautiful detached house in the heart of Hampshire, which had a run-down conservatory with the old polycarbonate roofing system. This meant that the extension lacked the thermal performance to be able to be used throughout the year. It leaked, and unfortunately, mould was beginning to grow inside.
This installation was nearly completely separated from the rest of the home. The only thing connecting it to the original structure being an internal door. Mrs Paul even described the old installation as “a complete waste of space.” The family wanted to see if there was a whether they could salvage what was left of the space. Mrs Paul discusses her decision by saying:
“We were very pleased to discover the Livinroof roofing system. After living with an old conservatory that was often cold, we liked that the roof was insulated to stop the heat loss. Also, internally, the roof could be plastered so seamlessly fitting with the rest of our home and not looking like a traditional conservatory roof. The options available on Livinroof are great, it was nice that we could design something bespoke to our exact needs by choosing the number and location of glass roof panels.”
The family wanted their space to flow into each other without there being a separation, so we removed the door and created a large opening. This gave a greater sense of space as it became a more open plan design.
There was once an old dwarf wall which has been replaced with large and vast glazing sections called a picture window. Bi-folding doors stand in place of where their French doors once stood. They opted for a colour that better stood out against the contrast of the white walls through anthracite grey frames on the windows and doors.
The failing roofing system was replaced with a Livinroof conservatory roof. This included a mixture of contemporary grey panels and glazed panels. The beautiful plastered ceiling enhances this we installed to make this extension feel much more like a room.
Mrs Paul explained how the Livinroof has changed her and her family’s way of life. She said:
“We absolutely love our new extension! It’s effectively extended our house in a cost-effective way by enabling us to use the space already there. We were ambitious in knocking our the internal walls to make it part of the house but received great advice from Forest Edge on how best to do this. We now use it as a garden room so we can open the bi-fold doors and enjoy the garden (with a glass of wine!), and the children use it as a play space. It’s also a nice place for a really tall Christmas tree! The customer service from Forest Edge was fantastic – very practical advice and ideas on possible designs. There was no pushy sales, just practical, experienced and honest advice with detailed costings provided. The fitting team was very polite, efficient and tidy – all went very smoothly and in a much quicker timescale than building an extensions. We have already recommended Forest Edge on many occasions.
The work done makes our home much more usable by allowing us to use space already there. We absolutely love it!”
